Merry Christmas!! This has been such a lovely year, with the birth of our sweet Grayson, and the start of this blog! There is so much to be grateful for, especially in the little moments of every single day. So grateful for for these four right here! They have enriched my life in ways I never knew possible!!
I love the idea of family photos and old school holidays cards, but they can be sooo daunting...right? Especially this time of year...I swear someone is never feeling their best. Baby Gray had 2 teeth break through the day prior, and therefore, was hands in mouth, not her normal happy self. Luckily, we worked with Ashley, of Dawn Ashley Photography, and she was able to capture so many cute shots of our sweet Gray. We love working with her...she is the loveliest, and super patient and positive. Even when, moments after we meet up and pull out sweet Gray, she had pooped entirely through her nappy and tights...omg...it was everywhere and coming down her thighs. What in the world...what kind of timing was that...ha...hence no tights for her:) Two minutes after solving Baby Gray's misfortune, Hartley was covered in dirt...just everywhere...ha...I felt like I was in the twilight zone (common mom thoughts). Regardless, Ashley is super professional and sweet, and her lovely hubby helped with our furry son, Oscar, and chased after our Hartley...I swear it takes a little squad to snap a family pic...ha! All the work coordinating outfits, getting out of the house, and getting to this moment...and it's like wait...what???...I swear...it's totally normal...a little bit of chaos with small kiddos and a pup...attempting photos!! Seriously, you just gotta laugh it off and enjoy, because you know you will hands down, laugh about it in a few days. Plus things always seem more stressful in the moment. Things happen, and kids teach you to just roll with it, and make it the best it can be...perfect...maybe not ever, but you can choose to always find the joy, and have fun.
In terms of outfits...I wanted the girls to match for their first holiday card together...because this is a dream come true...two daughters, and this is a special time for our family. Then I coordinated more neutral colors for my husband and I, since their dresses were so busy. My husband is a more casual guy and prefers jeans, and I added a pop of print with his shirt, because it was reading too boring otherwise. That's my tip for taking family photos. If you are working with a strong print, match with neutrals and coordinate a dash of another print or two, to tie in the colors. Also, it helps to lay your outfits out and visually see how the colors are going to work together.
I hope everyone had the loveliest most special Christmas day! It was beyond magical, seeing my sweet Hartley's expressions and excitement this morning...such a dream come true! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
All the Love, Kimberly
