Hartley and Grayson's Playroom
Hi Loves,
A few months ago, I decided to combine the girls into one room for sleeping, so they could have an actual playroom for imaginative play and arts and crafts! I also loved the idea of them having each other to chit chat with at night and fall asleep together…I thought it was an extra sweet bonding experience too. Grayson is super independent and can sleep on her own no problem, and well Hartley would prefer to sleep in our bed…she is super sensitive at night time, telling me “I can’t do it, my heart hurts, I miss you”…it kills me honestly…but it’s better for everyone that she sleeps in her big girl bed. We narrowed sleepovers to the weekends, and that will get better for sure, but in the meantime, they are LOVING their new playroom!
So excited to finally finish this space for them!!! We love shopping at Walmart for a lot of our clothing and grocery needs, and recently started finding the best home decor there! They offer free shipping and the quality is always amazing! I order about 99% online and they just make my life so easy with the amount of things they offer and the fact that it will arrive on my doorstep! I’ve loved every decorative piece and the furniture we bought from them thus far. So excited to share with you their playroom!!! We get so much use out of this space, and combining sleeping rooms to have a true playroom was the best decision! I also found AMAZING dupes for a few of the more pricey things we’ve had for years, that also occupy this space. I’m also big into everything being of purpose with not a lot of excess and wasted toys…everything here …we USE…we use…we use…plus we love doing puzzles and playing games, and sporting activities outside.
Arts and crafts are huge in our family!! I’m huge on arts and crafts, creative imaginative play, and reading books!!! The single most used “toy” in our home is this kitchen!! Hands down we play so much with this set…from playing restaurant, to grocery store, to play cooking…we LOVE this guy! I was so thrilled to find a version of this set for you guys for a fraction of what I spent on this one. They are here and here and are gorgeous and beautifully made!!! Also found their cleaning set and a similar shopping cart….we have used these for years!!! Trust me, these kinds of toys are things that last and they actually play with on a weekly basis and never get sick of! I’m still on the hunt for large prints above this space..I’ll share when I decide.
Our book wall is probably always going to be my kiddos favorite too! We read books every single night as a family…it’s the one thing I remember doing with my momma as a child, and it is just treasured time in our family. Linking some of our favorite books below. We have so many favorites…I probably missed a few….but we love reading together!! I’ll be switching out the monogram and framing special artwork of their’s down the road. They voted to keep it up for now, so I did. I just picked up these adorable little reading chairs from Walmart too…they came in a variety of colors, and I’ll link a few extras below as well! They love their little reading corner for when they just need a relaxing minute…and the extra poof provides seating for me too. Also, this tree is such a great quality and provides a magical tough to their room…I should put a little fairy in there right…it has that kind of feeling…such amazing quality for anywhere in your home.
We really needed a bookshelf in this space to house a lot of their little toys and lovies. Their bigger toys are downstairs or in the closet. This piece is awesome…I removed a few of the colored baskets and stacked books there, but the rest of the bins hold all the small things…my girls love little treasures, and these hide them perfectly! I love how clean this piece looks…even with all the toys in it. I also added the black wire baskets…I have those elsewhere and love the look of them! Highly recommend for your hall closet or pantry organization as well!! They have a spot to write on the front if you turn them too. This bookcase is so well priced, and although it did take a min to put together, it’s something that will grow with them. They can eventually store more books or special treasures as they get older, and such a steal at $267…as those can run easily in the thousands! I absolutely love the cactus print I picked up and these cute faux plants…I need to order another one for my room. Walmart seriously has the cutest home decor…and I have some fun finds I need to share with you for the rest of my home that I ordered.
Get a tent…Eek the girls love their tent…we’ve had this for years and it’s still super loved! They are always playing in there…and sometime Oscar hides in there too...ha! I found the cutest and most beautiful tents for you similar to mine and at amazing prices!
Centered in the room is their arts and crafts table! I wanted creativity to be at the forefront and a place for them to do any special school projects throughout the next few years. Absolutely hands down we use this soooo much! Almost everyday they are in here creating and coloring. I found a similar table and chairs at a much better price too! I have all their arts and crafts in the closet and I’m almost organized with it to show you…but I ordered more of these and this is a great cart to have to store all of that in. We also have all their dress up clothes in the closet too. They love to play dress up, and this is a cute way to display them.
If you need a gorgeous rug for anywhere in your house, you need to check out this rug and it comes in a variety of colors. It is perfection…A nice flat weave, so it wont show traffic, and this fun boho fringe is adorable…and such a price! I actually loved it os much, I ordered this rug in black for our living room! Highly recommend and so well priced!
***On our last wall, I bought this to hang all their artwork. Omg they are so happy!! They were squealing seeing all their artwork hanging on display. It comes with 5 to the set, but I only used 4, and you can space them out however you want. The clothes pins can attach wherever, which allows for the girls to switch out their artwork whenever they want. Colorful and fun…I LOVE this wall…we piled on their art..but you could always keep it simple and more spacious too. I might add that 5th one on to cover the plugs. I also loved this cactus print I found at Walmart. I really wanted to use it elsewhere in our home, it’s so beautiful, but they wanted it and well :)!!
Linking a similar chandelier to the one in their room here…I splurged on this piece, but I found a super similar one a few less expensive options.
Side note…we also bought this dresser for the girl’s bedroom. I have it tucked inside their closet since space is an issue and it is awesome!!! You have to put it together, but it is simple and beautiful and holds both the girl’s clothes…it’s a fantastic dresser!
Aww I hope you enjoyed this post! I get requested more than anything to show home decor, and I’m trying girls…it my favorite topic actually and what my background is in. Although kids rooms are tricky, and it’s hard to get that balance of order and design, with freedom for creativity and play. I hope you found this helpful for your own needs and excited to hear if you implemented any of these ideas into your own homes.
All the love, Kim
